Dove Prisms

A Dove prism can realize image inversion, rotation or retroreflection according to different incident surfaces and angles of light. When light is incident along the longitudinal axis, an inverted image is formed after a single reflection on the bottom surface, and the image rotation angle is twice the prism's rotation angle around the longitudinal axis. Astigmatism is introduced when the prism is used with convergent beams, and the optimal optical performance can be achieved with collimated beams. When light is incident on the long right-angle side, the prism has the same optical characteristics as a right-angle prism, the emergent light is parallel to the incident light (regardless of the incident angle) and is deflected 180° by the prism for retroreflection.
